About Justin

"It was a room like many people have in their homes, but what it held within in it was beyond special to me.  A 1940’s marine pearl Ludwig drum set, a 1920’s Leedy Marimba, congas, bongos, and every manner of percussion knick-knack you could find...And the best part was my grandpa loved to let me and my brother play with his gear any time we wanted. They’re still some of my best memories, sitting on his lap and playing his drums.

I can still smell his cigars when I sit behind his drum set in my own studio now. His white marine pearl drum set sits right next to mine. I use it to teach lessons, practice, and just have fun. Like I did so many years ago. When I was a 4 year old banging around on his drums I had no idea I would be teaching lessons at my own studio. But, I cant imagine doing anything else.

Seeing a student light up when they finally get that song down, I remember that feeling myself, and its the best feeling in the world as a teacher."
